LEVEL 5 OF 5

Guide

Operate at the frontier where the playbook runs out and generate the next principles.

What this level is

Guide is not a bigger version of Transform. The transformation from Transform to Guide is a change in kind, not scale. At Transform you are applying the curriculum at scale. At Guide you are operating in the territory the curriculum has not yet mapped — the genuine frontier of novel configurations, unprecedented organisations, and situations where the next principle has to be derived from scratch.

Guide-level competency is recognisable by a specific quality: when an edge case arrives, the Guide does not search for the closest existing framework and apply it with modifications. The Guide builds the framework. This is not a higher level of difficulty at the same kind of task. It is a different task entirely — one that requires deep integration of all five spines, sufficient portfolio evidence to know which frameworks generalise and which are situation-specific, and the intellectual honesty to say when existing theory breaks down rather than stretching it past its valid range.

What you can do at this level

You are a recognised reference for people facing novel sovereignty challenges that existing frameworks cannot resolve. Your practice across orient through transform is deep enough to generate new principles when edge cases arise, not just apply existing ones. You are contributing to the frontier of systems thinking for the AI era — developing new principles for AI-era systems that prior theory did not need. You guide coordination design in novel multi-agent environments with no clear precedent. You navigate frontier uncertainty where no existing playbook applies, with calibrated confidence and built-in feedback mechanisms. You address the hardest translation challenges at societal scale — AI policy, public literacy, cross-cultural governance — where the stakes are highest and the audiences most diverse.

Spine outcomes at this level

Every AgenticU level has five spine outcomes — one per spine capability. Each is assessed independently; the headline assessment type for this level is Peer review, but note that Coordination at Operate is assessed as an Ordeal (the outcome that requires the most sustained coordination under real load).

  • Translation Peer review

    Translation — Guide

Guide the hardest translation challenges at societal scale.

The frontier

Guide is the terminal level. There is no Level 6. The work at Guide is not completing a curriculum — it is operating in the territory the curriculum has not yet mapped and contributing the knowledge that would extend it. If the progression described below feels like a ladder with a top rung, that is a misread. Guide is the level at which the curriculum becomes a practice of writing the next level of the curriculum.

Start with your occupation

The fastest path into the Guide curriculum is through your specific occupation. Find your role, see where your work sits in the AI exposure picture, and follow the path to the guide-level outcomes for the spines most relevant to your exposure.
